What is a DICOM Compliant Monitor?
For medical imaging, the Grayscale Standard Display Function (GSDF), defined in DICOM part 14 for use with grayscale images, has been used as a standard to set up the grayscale display function at medical centers. To view a medical image that conforms to the DICOM standards, you will need a DICOM viewer to interpret the file information and display it on a monitor with DICOM support. A DICOM compliant monitor can display DICOM-compliant grayscale images and provides detailed information for doctors to make the right diagnoses.
What is DICOM used for?
DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is the international standard to communicate and manage medical images and related data. DICOM standards can apply to any medical domains where medical imaging technology is primarily used such as radiology, cardiology, obstetrics, ophthalmology and dentistry.
